Intro to Igloo Building – Experience
The igloo, like the birch bark canoe, is a Canadian icon.
Despite all these advantages this superior winter dwelling remains under-appreciated even by many winter campers simply because few today are familiar with how to camp in and construct one, especially in our Ontario snow conditions, which necessitate different techniques.

Ski like a Canadian – Experience
Canadians love to ski. It is a quiet way of exploring the natural wonders of winter. Come glide into winter with this half day introduction to cross country skiing.
If you are new to x-country skiing, we will teach you the basics in either skate or classic style and guide you along scenic trails that are suited to your level of ability. If you have skied before let us help you refine your technique and take you through some rugged and beautiful terrain.

Try It – Ice Climbing – Experience
Try It is a half day adventure geared towards getting a taste of what this sport has to offer. No experience, no problem, you will learn the basics and get in your first swings! You’ll learn safety first, have a short Lesson, then lots of climbing!

Curious Footprints – Youth Crafttime
Use cardboard and twine to create curious footprint snowshoes. Staff will help you create your very own footprint and teach you how to fasten them on your boot. When you are done, you are encouraged to go outside and test them out!
The event will be held in Dysart and Wilberforce.

Guided Snowshoe Hikes – Experience
This guided snowshoe experience is a naturalist led adventure lasting two hours on the gorgeous glebe park snowshoe trails in Haliburton Our guides will teach you all about snowshoe travel and make sure you have a great experience! Pre-registration is required. Includes Snowshoes.

Canicross/Kicksled Extrapawsanza – Experience
Karen, a local harness dog sport instructor, will help to outfit (she has gear to lend) and coach you and your dog in Canicross and/or Kicksledding. Both of these activities provide the opportunity to deepen the human/canine bond as the participants work together as a team. If your are in reasonably good shape and your dog is energetic and loves to pull, one or both of these activities could be perfect for both of you.
Canicross is the activity of walking/running with a harnessed dog that is attached to the person’s Canicross belt with a bungee line.
Kicksled is the activity of dog sledding where the person participates by running with or kicking the sled along.
Dogs must be on a lead at all times during this workshop.
